The Gasthaus Lowenbrau, Baden Baden

In honor of Baviaria and Oktoberfest let’s talk about that time when I was in Baden Baden and went to a Bavarian Beer Garden.  🤣🤣  The Gasthaus Lowenbrau in Baden Baden has a beer garden that can hold 200 people and an even larger inside!  They serve all the perfect foods that go with a liter of their house beer, Lowenbrau.

Lowenbrau, or the lion’s beer, is a pretty commercial beer as it is currently owned by Anheuser-Busch.  How long the beer has been around is up for debate, but it definitely dates back to at least 1746, so even though it is corporate owned there is a lot of history to the beer and the brand.  This beer is like the Hofbräu beer is made in accordance with the Bavarian purity Law of 1516, which says that only water, barley and hops may be used to brew beer (yeast was added later).

In the US Lowenbrau can be found from Total Wine & More.  PROST!
