Did you know that artichokes are considered the wine pairing killer? Last weekend my BFF, Bitchin’ in the Kitchen asked me to pair a couple of courses, one of them with my favorite food – artichoke. Apparently, they are extremely difficult to pair because artichoke makes wines taste sweeter. In my research, I read that if you don’t care about a ‘perfect’ wine pairing to go with a really good food friendly wine like Albariño. We added some incredible olive oil to the artichokes that I got from Cortes De Cima in Portugal (more on that winery later) & we drank a Viña Nora 2016 Albariño from Rias Baixas Spain. We are not experts, but everyone at the meal thought the pairing was fantastic. Bring on the artichokes!
