Sneak Peek: Yakima Valley

I’m currently in the Yakima Valley doing research, tasting wines and taking photos for future blog posts. I can’t wait to share with you my experiences from this region!

The Yakima Valley is in the state of Washington in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. It’s 150 miles (ish) from Portland, Seattle, and Spokane.

Yakima Valley has three (soon to be 4) sub AVAs (listed in size); Rattlesnake Hills, Snipes Mountain, and Red Mountain. An interesting note about naming AVAs in Washington is that they have to have a historical significance.

Yakima Valley grows 46 grape varieties and has about 120 wineries. The two most planted varietals are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The biggest surprise for me (major spoiler!), has been the Sparkling wine. 🥂🥂

Fun fact for you beer lovers, Yakima harvests more hops than any other place in the world!!! So, if you need a break from wine you can visit one of the 18 breweries. 🍻🍻

I’m having tons of fun, I’ve got an amazing tasting bestie with me, and I hope all this drinking and research leads to some posts you truly enjoy!🤞🏻🍇📇

Cheers! 🥂
