Davis Family Vineyards

On a beautiful and warm Saturday morning my dear friend Cliff, Indy and I exited the 101 freeway crossed the nearby Russian River where families were preparing to swim in the cool water and others were paddle boarding on the still waters. On the bank of that river is the Davis Family Vineyards tasting room. To call the tasting room a tasting room is a bit of a misnomer, it is an indoor/outdoor setting that you do tasting in. The venue feels more like visiting the backyard of friend who aspires to be in Home and Gardens Magazine and loves to host a good BBQ. There is a beautiful covered patio with outdoor furniture set next to their garden, which is large and you will see the staff pruning and tending. There is a bocce ball court that is set next to a series of picnic tables that look onto the river. On most days, there is a food truck serving what I hear is very tasting BLT sandwiches and pulled pork sandwiches. Lord Indy found a comfy ottoman to sit on and had a wonderful little nap while Cliff and I went through what was our favorite tasting of a weekend of tasting.

When visiting Cliff and I tried 8 different wines starting with a RosΓ© de Noir and ending with a Cabernet Sauvignon. More reviews on the actual wines I’m sure are coming, but our standout favorite was the 2015 Blanc de Noir. My friend my Cliff wanted to rate it a 6/5! It is bio-dynamic and dry farmed.
