Indy and I posing at Moshin Vineyards

My dear friend and fellow cork dork Chris loves Moshin. As a GM at a high-end restaurant in the Bay Area (San Francisco), he always ensured that Moshin was available by the glass. For this reason, I’ve been drinking Moshin since I moved to the Bay Area in 2011. It is a nice and easy to enjoy Pinot Noir.

Moshin was founded by Owner and Winemaker Rick Moshin in 1989 and to this day he still owns and makes the wines. Given how corporate the valley is becoming (Gary Farrell its next door neighbor for instance), it is nice to see small family-boutique wineries still succeeding.

Enjoying the tasting room and the Pinot!

My friend Cliff, Indy and I all went to Moshin in August of 2019. We walked in a very hot summer’s day without an appointment. Indy was happy for the AC. I was happy for the Pinot! There are much more personalized and private tasting experiences available if you book ahead for $45-$55 depending on what you want. Unfortunately on the day Cliff and I went in the person pouring for us didn’t seem to walk to talk about the wines, but given my friend Chris is a long-time wine member, I figured I could get more information from him later if I needed to. If I were to go again, I would definitely book a private experience. There was not a single wine that Cliff and I did not like. But, perhaps it was too hot a day to be drinking Pinot Noir, because there wasn’t a single wine that impressed either Cliff or I. I have to say though, I’ve yet to have a glass of Moshin Pinot Noir I did not enjoy drinking.
