I almost don’t want to write about Palmeri wines because I feel like they are my ‘insider’ secret in the Sonoma Valley. Whenever I want to impress someone or make it look like I’m a cool local in the know, I reach out to Palmeri wines. What makes Palmeri so special? Palmeri wines is a boutique winery that produces small lot wines from very unique terriors. This makes for wine that is expressive and uniquely Palmeri in an absolutely delicious way. But, that isn’t what truly makes this winery so special. It is the Damskey family themselves. Whenever you taste with the Damskey’s they make you feel like friends and like part of the family. A large part of this is because the tasting is by appointment only and held in their family home around their family dining room table! It doesn’t get more personalized than that.
Drew Damskey, is not only one of the nicest most incredible people in the wine business (and one of the SF Chronicle’s 2017 Wine makers to watch), but he is a thoughtful and engaging host. For my friend’s seven-year-old, he put together an orange juice tasting. He hosted my friend’s 40th and gave us a sneak-peak of his project Syrah’s which are to die for! I don’t want Palmeri to get too large, I don’t want them to get too many club members, I want to keep them all to myself, because I love them so much.
