Thank you so very much for following along on my Oktoberfest German Wine, Beer and Food feature. I hope you’ve enjoyed my pictures from German breweries and wine regions, and learning about German wines that are often forgotten or not talked about often due to the popularity of Germany’s most famous wine and grape – Riesling!
At the end of the day, for me, what is the most fun about all the wine studying, reading, tasting and writing is enjoying good food and good wine with those that you love and that are often willing to let me babble on about what I’ve learned. For my last post, I would like to share a family meal made by Bitchin’ in the Kitchen and her German mother-in-law. It’s simple and delicious and a perfect ending to Oktoberfest; sausages, cabbage and mashed potatoes. We paired it with wine from our new favorite Paso Robles Winery, Villa Creek. Villa Creek’s Avenger a Syrah, Mourvedere, Grenache blend is amazing value for money and by far one of my favorite reds of the year! It may not be a traditional pairing, but it was beyond delicious!

🍷 Beautiful and broad in the palette. This wine is perfectly structured, long long finish which I love!!!, super silky tannins.
⏳ Not to 2027. I absolutely love this now, but I think that it will get better with a few more years, which is pretty hard to believe.
💰 $56
📝 Villa Creek is a winery to watch! The Avenger needs a bit more time 3-5 years to hit on all cylinders, but it will. That said, I’m loving it now. This winery and this wine is one to watch!
