I’ve spent the last couple of days talking about my walk on the Weinwanderweg just outside of Stuttgart. On this walk in the village of Uhlbach was the Weinbaumuseum or Wine Museum Stuttgart. The museum was more of a big room than an elaborate museum building. It contained information on regional aspects of viticulture and German wine culture. Luckily for this non-German speaker, many of the displays had English translations. The whole experience can easily be done in less than hour. My favorite aspect of this experience was that I got to walk around reading and learning about German wine, while drinking German wine!
They offer red and white wine for tasking and no glass is more than 3.50 euros to taste. The list of wines they offer varies. They of course, almost always have wines from the Collegium Wirtmeberg, that I reviewed yesterday. On my visit I tried a Sauvignon Blanc, 100% Lemberger, a Trollinger, and a really lovely Spätburgunder!
